Here's today's link-up.
I'm sorry it's late getting it up, but I babysat this morning and then I was asleep and my husband is sick and I've just been doing all kinds of stuff today.
Without further ado, here it is. My first random Thursday post which happens to be about blog pet peeves.
So, I haven't been blogging for long, okay for about two days now, but there are a plethora of things that annoy me when it comes to people. I know that sounds so bitchy, but hey I write what I can't say to people.
1. When people don't know the difference between words like we're/were/where, there/their/they're, two/too/two, you're/your and so on. You should have learned these back in elementary school.
2. Please for the love of everything holy don't write in a color that is hard to read like yellow, light pink/blue/green or colors like that. I want to be able to read what is written without straining my eyes.
3. Captchas. I think everyone agrees that these damn things are annoying. WHY on God's green earth would you enable these?!
4. I hate when people don't have an about me anywhere. It doesn't matter if it's Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, here, Instagram or anywhere else. I love to read what people say about themselves. How you portray yourself will likely get me to follow you/talk to you/want to be your friend.
5. Autoplay music doesn't bother me a lot unless your music is LOUD, hard rock, then that makes me want to throw my laptop across the room because your music made me almost pee my pants.
6. I don't like when there are a zillion things on the side bars, a few things are cool but if you have things all the way down both sides to the end of the page it makes me think, "WOAH a little over kill there."
7. I hate when people can't spell things correctly. It's not when it's just one typo here and there, it's when the same words are spelled wrong over and over and over again.
Ultimately it's up to you how you run your blog or social media site and it doesn't really matter what some girl from Kansas thinks.
I totally agree - and #1 and ä7 are really important to me, too. If I can master they're / there / their, then so can native speakers! =)
ReplyDeletePS I just realized you break your own rules - you HAVE captcha! ;-) You can get rid of them if you disable word verification in your settings!
Yes! That's so true! :) Good for you!
DeleteHaha, I do? Oh my gosh. Off to disable that!
You may not have been blogging for too long but you sure get what's cool & what's not. I couldn't agree with you more on being annoyed by bloggers not having an 'about me' page. It's like come on, I'm not going to read through 2 years of posts just to decide whether or not I'm going to like your blog. I have a really short attention span so Im all about links that get me what I want :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up & joining us this week :)
Thanks! Lol. And I know! That's exactly how I feel. It takes all of like 5 minutes to write at least something about yourself and it makes a big difference!
DeleteYou're welcome! I love your link-ups! :)
