Rant rant rant.

Okay this is going to be a rant about tattoos, so bear with me.
As you know from my earlier blog posts from the weekend, I got a new tattoo. If you don't know it says, "I am selfish. I am brave." It's from the book Divergent by Veronica Roth, it's on my arm and I freaking LOVE it.

Now I know it's not everyones cup of tea. I know that a lot of people don't understand why I'd get it or why I like it or why I would ever have even considered getting it on my body. Well, I freaking like it. Is that okay with you? Everyone sees that it says the word "selfish" and they're freaking out about it asking, "why would you get that on your body?" It's not like I really have to explain myself to anyone but anyway, I am going to explain. I just REALLY like the quote first off. Those six words set up the ENTIRE series. You'd never guess that six words like that would have so much impact, yet they do. Secondly, being selfish ISN'T ALWAYS A BAD THING. Every single person on the freaking planet is selfish. It's only a bad thing if you let it become a bad thing. When I say that I'm selfish, it means that I put myself above others a lot of the time. Yeah? Who doesn't. I can be egotistical and self-centered, but that's NOT ALL WHO I AM. If you're going to be mad at me or whatever because I tattooed the word "selfish" on my arm then FUCK YOU, FUCK OFF, GO THE FUCK AWAY.
Not everyone understands why I have the tattoos that I have and that's okay. Only half of my tattoos have meaning. The other half don't. I got them just because I like the and I wanted them.
I don't understand why a lot of people tattoo things on their body either, but it's not my place to tell you that it's stupid or to give you the third degree about it, not that anyone has actually said that to me, but the point is the same.

I was talking to my husband about it and he would tell people that all of the tattoos they have are stupid. Now, I am not going to do that. I really don't care a lot if someone were to tell me that they didn't like my tattoos, my grandparents have shown severe distaste for my tattoos from the first one I got, but that doesn't mean that they don't love me.

I'm a very firm believer in the saying, "the body is a temple and I'm just decorating the walls." I love all of my tattoos and I will continue to love them for years to come.

The final point of this post is just to say that I don't really care what people have to say about the self expression I chose to display on my body, but if you have something mean/rude or whatever to say, you can keep it to yourself. Also, I wasn't thinking about YOU when I chose to get the tattoos, therefore your opinion doesn't really fucking matter, now does it? I'm not going to sit here and cry or lose sleep over something that someone says.

There I feel better.

  1. What ever happened to it being your body, your choice? Truth is, you dont have to explain what, much less WHY you got something tattooed on you. Things have their own meanings to different people.

    1. I know! That's what I'm sayin'! It just gets annoying as fuck to always be critisized and chastised for getting a fuckin tattoo. It is my body and if I want to get something tattooed on it then I will! It's defintely nice to see that others agree with me. :)

  2. Personally, I am a fan of tattoos. I have an appointment in 2 weeks to get my 3rd tattoo, and I'm super excited. I've also seen a lot of tattoos that I would NEVER get on my body...but that doesn't mean THAT person shouldn't have gotten it. Tattoos are a personal decision and you should get whatever you want - really, you're the one that has to live with it, not them! So if YOU love it - who cares?

    1. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I completely agree with all of this. :) I'm very much a fan too and I appreciate good work. If you have a tattoo that I like the work but I wouldn't get tattooed on myself, I will STILL say that it looks good because a compliment is a compliment. My husband, for instance, has a sleeve of skulls and I personally wouldn't ever get a skull, I think his are awesome.

  3. Tats are sexy and I think they're a great form of expression.

Funny sidenote: We're learning about deviance in Sociology and it seems that there are studies showing that body piercing and tattoos should be considered signs of mental illness such as schizophrenia. Crazy right?

Anyway, I'm a lover of tattoos, yet too afraid to get one LOL
